Walter P. Nitzold
Dr. Walter P. Nitzold (M) received his Dipl.-Ing. Degree from HTWK Leipzig in 2010 and his Ph.D. degree from Technische Universität Dresden in 2015. From 2010 to 2015, he worked as a Research Associate with the Vodafone Chair at Technische Universität Dresden where he focused on channel coding constructions for energy-efficient machine-type communication both from theoretical and practical perspectives. He was part of industry collaborations with both Vodafone as well as NEC on M2M communications and CRAN research. In 2014, he was a guest researcher at Lund University, Sweden. Since August 2015, he is with National Instruments focusing first on software-development for measurement equipment tailored towards cellular standards including 5G NR. In June 2018, he joined the physical layer and systems design group drawn towards 5G research and prototyping with the focus on next-generation network design and interworking. His research interests include statistical signal processing, applied mathematics, channel coding and wireless communications system design in general. He holds several patents in the wireless domain and is author of several technical papers at international conferences with communications background. Walter Nitzold has participated in several national and international research projects such as EXALTED, QoSMOS, LTE-M2M Special Interest Group, FAST, ORCA and Primo5G.
